One of Filmmaker Magazine's 25 New Faces 2009, Jody Lee Lipes wrote and co-directed the scripted adaptation of Jerome Robbins' NY Export: Opus Jazz, a companion piece to West Side Story which stars an ensemble cast of New York City Ballet dancers. After winning an Audience Award at SxSW 2010, the film aired nationally on PBS and earned a nomination for the prestigious Rose d'Or Award.

Jody's first feature length documentary Brock Enright: Good Times Will Never Be The Same follows an emerging artist struggling to create his first solo show at a prominent gallery in New York City. After premiering domestically at SxSW 2009 and internationally at Hot Docs 2009, Factory 25 released the film in 2010.

In addition to lensing his own projects Jody has earned DP credits on the features Tiny Furniture (Jury Prize winner SxSW / LA 2010), Two Gates of Sleep (Cannes / London 2010), Afterschool (Cannes / NYFF 2008), and Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell (Berlin / Edinburgh 2008).

Jody is currently in production on Sean Durkin's Martha Marcy May Marlene (Sundance Screenwriting / Directing Lab 2010) and Margaret Brown's Untitled Oil Spill Documentary.
